The Idea

What started as a way to honor the memory of my mother-in-law, who bravely battled multiple sclerosis for 29 years, has grown into something much larger than I ever could have imagined. Since 2007, I’ve been riding in Bike MS events, and in 2008 I formed Team Katie to bring friends, family, and supporters together to fight MS as a community. Now, I’ve set my sights on an ambitious goal: completing all 50 official Bike MS rides across the country. This journey is about more than cycling—it’s about raising awareness, funding critical research, and building lasting connections with others who share this mission.

The road ahead will take me to towns and cities both big and small, through hills, valleys, coastlines, and plains. I’m documenting every mile, every blister, every laugh, and every triumph right here on this site. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist, a curious supporter, or someone whose life has been touched by MS, I invite you to join me on this adventure. Ride with me in your local Bike MS event, or cheer from the sidelines. Share your story. Together, we can pedal closer to a world free of MS—one ride, one smile, one mile at a time.

Why I Ride

I ride in Bike MS because this cause is deeply personal to me. My mother-in-law bravely fought multiple sclerosis for 29 years, and through her journey I witnessed firsthand the toll this disease takes on individuals and families. Each mile I pedal is a tribute to her strength and to the millions of others impacted by MS. Riding is my way of honoring her memory, keeping her fight alive, and pushing forward toward a future where no one has to live with this disease.

But these rides are about more than just me, they are about community, awareness, and action. Bike MS brings people together from all walks of life to rally behind a common goal: ending MS once and for all. By participating, I’m not only challenging myself physically, but also raising funds for research, treatment, and support for those who need it most. Every donation, every teammate, and every cheer from the sidelines brings us closer to that goal, and I’m proud to be part of the journey.

How can you help

There are so many ways you can be part of this journey, no matter where you live or how you ride. You can follow along as I work toward completing all 50 Bike MS rides across the U.S., sharing in the ups, the challenges, and the victories along the way. Your encouragement, whether through comments, shares, or simply cheering me on, helps fuel every mile I ride.

If you’re looking to take an even bigger step, you can volunteer at a local Bike MS event, register to participate in a ride near you, or even join me on the road when I come through your area. And of course, donations are always a powerful way to make an impact. Every dollar raised through my rides goes directly to supporting research, treatment, and resources for people living with multiple sclerosis. Whether you ride, volunteer, donate, or simply follow the journey, your support brings us closer to a world free of MS.
